Book (2000) Page(s) 74. Includes photo(s). ‘Allgold’/’All Gold’ = Floribunda – jaune moyen, remontant… ‘Allgold’ a été le tout premier floribunda d’un jaune aussi franc et inaltérable… On le multiplie par écussonnage, mais non sans peine, et sur ce plan son faible rendement le rend très décevant en pépinière. Il a engendré, en revanche, une descendance prospère… LeGrice, UK, 1956.
Magazine (2000) Page(s) 115. Vol 94, Part 4. Peter Harkness. The Deepest Yellows. in contrast, single play, 'Eleanor Le Grice' though not so bright to the eye, was pure in its yellowness. Hoping to maintain this purity, Le Grice crossed it with the clear yellow Floribinda 'Goldilocks', a sensational new arrival from USA, which also had Foetida in its genes. He did this many times, yielding several thousand seedlings. One of them was 'Allgold'. Le Grice knew that many genetic factors affect the pigment in a petal. He calculated that, even with two intensely yellow parents, the chances of an intense yellow offspring are about 15 to 1 against (and against a marketable item, far, far steeper). With 'Allgold', his long shot found the target, for in every part of the flower– petal, stigma, style, anther, filament – no telltale hint of red or green was to be found.
