Arena Roses 1999 Catalog presents a list of roses hybridized by the Guillot Family. This is one of the roses that is on that list. (Modern Roses 10 says there is also a rose by this name from Guillot and gives a date of 1853 for its introduction.)
Madame Bravy was bred by a gardener also named Guillot in 1846 as "Danzille" and introduced by J.-B. Guillot (père) in 1848 as Mme Bravy. L'Haÿ's 1902 catalogue listed 'Danzille' and 'Madame Bravy' separately. The synonyms sometimes mentioned as 'Alba Rosea' and 'Mme de Sertot' belong to distinct roses.
Gilbert Bravy was a nurseryman in Clermont-Ferrand, and an honorary member of the Cercle générale d'horticulture from 1846 on.
