In the pink and red shades, we have some very fine varieties suitable for growing as large bushes. One of my favourites when grown this way is Lady Battersea. Pruned hard, it is a rather poor grower; but when allowed to attain size, it is always an object of admiration, and is generally the first Rose in the garden to bloom in the spring.
