Clockwise, flower, buds with upfolded leaves, flower with spreading sepals, a cane of prickles and another flower. Photographed May 28, 2021 (except the last flower was May 29, 2018) at Rose Woods in the Mayacmas Mtns. near Petrified Forest, California.

Contrary to what Kim has stated, colchicine wasn't used to induce tetraploidy in this rose. Rather, it is a seedling of R. moschata abysinnica and R. rugosa rubra. One can look that information up right here: Basye, Dr. Robert E., "A Probable Amphidiploid of Rosa Abyssinica and Rosa Rugosa," American Rose Annual, 72:19-24, 1987. I have a PDF of this articles for those who are intrested in reading it.
