20 plus year old Evelyn growing in Chicagoland alkaline soil. Coloring varies a great deal with conditions. This is her peachiest.

Pic. is from 2016 Austin Catalog showing the 2nd version of Evelyn (climber sport) with buttonhole and irregular petals, which is DIFFERENT from the 1st version in 2011 Austin catalog with exposed yellow stamens and 100 smaller petals. My 12th-year own root Evelyn is a short shrub version with fast repeat, exposed stamens, and always healthy with intense peachy scent (a few blooms can perfume the entire room).

2011 Austin catalog stated Evelyn has 100 petals, versus 70 petals in Abe. Darby. Pic. is my 12th-year own root Evelyn ( shrub version). I prune it down to 1 foot after each flush. Never see RMV, rust, blackspots, mildew nor proliferation. Evelyn is the HEALTHIEST rose among my 160 fragrant own roots. But Abe. Darby is prone to blackspots and rabbits eat Abe. Evelyn's peachy scent is much better than Abraham sharp citrus scent (stinks up when aged in the vase).
