The 'Prince de Galles' which shows up ca. 1845 and after was not the -1817 Damask Perpetual from Mayet but rather a ca. 1843 HP from Laffay, as mentioned fleetingly with a handful of others in Annales de la Société Royale d'Horticulture, 1846, pp. 312-313: "In the number of varieties which are due to this able horticulturist [Laffay], I can only cite some of the most notable, such as [...] Prince de Galles [...]." Rivers confirms the attribution to Laffay in an ad in Gardeners' Chronicle April 15, 1843, p. 242, where he has a list of "new Hybrid Perpetuals," and carefully indicates those from Laffay (with a "Do.", meaning "ditto," in this case).
