'L'Idéal' rose Reviews & Comments

The 1904 photograph from 'The Garden' shows unopened buds somewhat distorted or shrivelled-looking in appearance. If this was usual for this rose it might help in identifying it, if it still exists unidentified somewhere. Does this feature ring a bell with anyone familiar with foundlings? Also the leaves and stems are rather shiny.

"Lieblingsrosen ...
L'Idéal (Nabonnand 1888): Blume metallischgelb und rot, schattiert und verwaschen mit blendend goldgelb;"
My translation:
Favourite Roses ...
L'Idéal (Nabonnand 1888) Flower metallic-yellow and red, shaded and suffused with dazzling golden yellow;
