Dark red. Does not blue. Strong fragrance. Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, globular bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Climbing, few or no prickles/thorns. Medium, medium green, wrinkled (rugose) foliage.
Height: 15' (455cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer. Disease susceptibility: susceptible to Mildew.

Notes:
The petal count seems to have dropped over the years. 'Countess of Stradbroke' used to average 40 petals. Refer the 1929 reference.
