Book (1978) Page(s) 125. Le Grice had been working with 'Mrs Beckwith', a yellow Hybrid Tea introduced by Pernet-Ducher in 1922, which had the failing of producing white flowers in its first flush, like many other yellow roses in those days, such as 'Julien Potin', and even 'Phyllis Gold'.

Its almost thornless vigorous growth is upright, and folaige is glossy and green. Pernet-Ducher 1922...Moderate growth. Slightly fragrant...June-Sept. Hardy.

They do not bloom all the time, but if kept healthy and growing steadily, one crop of flowers succeeds another at brief intervals. Mrs. Beckwith. Hybrid Tea. (Pernet-Ducher, 1922.) Long, deep yellow buds, opening to medium-sized, fairly full blooms of strong lemon-yellow, paling to white at edges; somewhat fragrant. Plant is of moderate, erect growth, with healthy foliage. A clear, unfading yellow Rose of the type of Souvenir de Claudius Pernet, with fewer thorns and without the disagreeable center which disfigures Claudius. The foliage is very healthy for a Rose of its class. $1.50 each. See illustration in color facing page 29.
