Mr Frank Penn, NZ.  New Roses in Auckland
... and Katharine Pechtold. The latter is one of the loveliest Roses I have seen, with very beautiful colouring (coppery orange, flushed with rose and gold). It is a free bloomer, but has failed to grow weli. With more robust habit this Rose should prove one of the most popular on the market. I think it a gem.

p127.  Mrs T. R. Willis, Greatford, NZ.  Rangitikei Roses.
Some that have appealed to me are: Katharine Pechtold, with its very perfectly shaped bud of old gold, a bronze-orange on long stems with a sweet clove scent; grows well, has nice foliage, and lasts well in water.

Bush Roses
Katharine Pechtold (Hybrid Tea)... Lovely exquisitely pointed buds of old gold and bronzy orange opening to full shapely flowers of a lovely coppery orange flushed with rose and gold. Sweet clove pink fragrance. The plants are bushy and bloom freely and continuously. A lovely Rose, and excellent for cutting. The small foliage detracts from its massing effect. Recommended. Introduced 1934.

Rose Notes
Katherine Pechtold Absolutely outstanding, and one of the best introductions of recent years. Pointed buds of old gold and bronzy orange, which develop to full, shapely blooms of a lovely coppery-orange flushed with rose-pink and golden yellow. Sweet clove pink fragrance. A decided acquisition, and such as must become a favourite.
