The reference from 1998 is incorrect in its statement. The Duc de Cambacérès who was a Napoleonic consul was very much an unmarried man. This rose is named after the Duchesse de Cambacérès, née Louise-Anne-Alexandrine Thibon (lived December 29, 1799–March 26, 1883), who was a patroness of the Société Impériale d’Horticulture de Paris in 1854.
