Book (Apr 1993) Page(s) 215. Golden Gate Hybrid Tea, medium yellow, 1972, 'South Seas' x 'King's Ransom'; Warriner. Description.
Book (1972) Page(s) 32. Includes photo(s). 'Golden Gate' is the 1972 Rose of the Year from Jackson and Perkins Co. A non-fading, vibrant yellow rose 'Golden Gate' is said to be one of the best yellow roses J and P has ever grown. This exquisite new hybrid tea is a slightly deeper yellow than 'Kings's Ransom', one of its illustrious parents. Even intense summer heat can't fade the opening buds, and indoors they hold their colour and form days longer than most yellow varieties. J and P vase tests show that 'Golden Gate' often last two weeks as a cut flower. The hardy plant grows 3 to 5 ft. tall, and is covered with outstanding foliage - perfectly-shaped oval leaves, glossy and bright green. Most blooms are borne singly on 12-inch cutting stems. 'Golden Gate' blooms profusely, is vigorous and resistant to disease. Hybridized by William Warriner, 'Golden Gate' promises to be an outstanding rose in the garden as well as in the house.
