Class:
Floribunda, Florists Rose.
Bloom:
Yellow. Buttercup yellow. Strong fragrance. 35 to 40 petals. Average diameter 3.5". Full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, high-centered to flat bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Long, ovoid buds.
Habit:
Bushy, compact, well-branched. Large, glossy foliage. 5 to 7 leaflets.
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.
Notes:
Bellona was the Roma goddess of war, whose priests marched in procession on state occasions, blowing golden trumpets as they went.
Modern Roses lists the patent for this rose as PP3790. The patent shows hybridizer, plant and parentage identical to PP4044.
