Korovo makes a large sturdy plant with plenty of solid blooms on stout stems...  is a thoroughly reliable salmon pink variety that is not sufficiently well known.

Korovo. There are several good pink roses to choose from but Korovo is my favourite. The blooms are a clear peach blossom pink and are borne on good stems. The foliage is thick and leathery and the plant is a continuous bloomer. It is an ideal parent for a good clean breed of roses.

The variety is called Korovo and is described as "rich clear salmon pink" Its blooms vary considerably, however, and much of its charm lies in that variability of colour from bloom to bloom. Our great authority, Mr. Harry Hazlewood, mentions the orange flush through the colours, and concludes by saying that he has found it to be the best salmon-pink Rose in commerce.  It is interesting to observe that one of the parents of Korovo is Etoile de Hollande, and the plants are similar in their general appearance and their strong healthy growth, plus their capacity to flower abundantly almost the year round in our mild coastal climates.  It seems odd that hybridists have not sent us more products from the great Etoile de Hollande Rose. The other parent of Korovo is a variety called Mrs. T. Hillas, from the famous Pernet Ducher in 1913.  It is described as a chrome yellow double Rose, but there is no information about its parentage.  Leenders, of Holland, introduced Korovo in 1931. It is not richly endowed with that wonderful fragrance of Etoile de Hollande, but has a sweet tea scent appreciated by many. Korovo is not one of those somewhat crude, heavy-stemmed types, of loud colouring, which seem to shout at one from a distance. It is nothing if not refined.  A final word. Do not let the pruning experts loose on Korovo for fear they slaughter the poor plant. A little common sense in removal of worn-out wood and "hands off!" all new wood is a fairly safe recipe, Also, no fancy fertilisers! Good old cow manure, bone-dust and compost will produce blooms by the score for the next "umpteen" years.

Outstanding specimens are Korovo, which at present is seven feet high with a stretch of eight feet—it is amazing how this plant grows - rich, clear salmon-pink double blooms of excellent shape, on stems often three feet long, the clustered blooms are a fine sight.
