Correct spelling is "Kalevala," from the Finnish national epic.

Please note 'Kalevala' is a different rose listing on HMF; iIt would appear we need to review combining these listings.

True, the correct Finnish spelling for the epic is 'Kalevala'. However, Poulsen's rose is listed as 'Kalavalla' in Modern Roses, and apparently as 'Kallevalla' by Poulsen.
The other 'Kalevala' is a later rose by Györy.

I have a note that the spelling in the introducer's (Olsson's) catalog was 'Kalevala'. The note came from a researcher in Finland several years ago when I was writing my book on the early Floribundas; I was unable at that time to obtain a copy of the catalog or page. My correspondent and his source are trustworthy; but, to be safe, if this data can again be verified "oculis testis," the 'Kalevala' spelling would seem to take precedence.

Maybe this catalogue can be found nowadays. Was Olsson a Finnish nursery?

Olsson (1890-1973)--his Swedish father had moved to Finland--was a very prominent Finnish landscape designer and nurseryman. His landscape design office was in Helsinki, and his nursery in nearby Kauniainen, both established in 1920. The 1931 Poulsen Floribunda 'Ingar Olsson' was named after Olsson's wife.

It would be most desirable indeed to obtain copies of Olsson's catalogs. In truth, old Scandinavian catalogs in general are rare as hen's teeth . . . and I state that after seeking such for decades. I'm sure there are in Scandinavia good collections of botanical and horticultural literature/catalogs, likely in university botany department collections, but I've been frustrated in my attempts to seek them out.

Paul Olsson's nursery seems to be a park now in Kauinianen. Here is a link

www.kauniainen.fi/asuminen-ja-ymparisto/viher-ja-muut-yleiset-alueet/kaupungin-yleiset-puistot/paul-olssonin-puisto/

The link contains a price list from 1957, but with only a few roses.

Here is more info on Paul Olsson:

The documentation of Paul Olsson seems to be donated to the Architecture Museum.

I think so too. Changed to Paul's 1919 'Sea Foam'.
