This rose has thrived in my 6a winters with little cane die-back (without protection). I lost a few other roses rated USDA zone 7 during these winters because we had beautiful, warm falls with no gradual cooling, followed by sudden cold weather, so the roses had no chance to go dormant gradually. Peggy made it through almost as if she had spent the winter indoors. This spring I had to do very little pruning.
