Nola Simpson. Final Analysis 1996-97. Miniatures/patios.
Rexy's Baby (MACcarib); McGredy 1992; 'Sexy Rexy' x MACgolumb; Pink with white stripe; 62 reports on 83 plants; I metre; 7.3 rating. The reports have been variable on this patio rose over the years, it has been popular by the number grown and reported on from all over the' country. It is a strong growing rose with healthy dense foliage which some feel overpowers the flower production. Most were expecting the flowers would be like a miniature 'Sexy Rexy' and were disappointed both with the shape and the colour, which is pink with a white stripe through it, very double and the clusters of blooms become very heavy and need support to hold them up. South Canterbury says it takes 3 years to establish properly, bloom sparse. Hutt Valley finds it good for floral work, and Waikato says it is healthy, good repeat and a lovely soft pink in large clusters. Nelson reported mites troublesome in the summer months. A mixed bag, it appeals to some and not to others.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1995-96 Season. Miniatures/Patios.
Rexy's Baby (MACcarib); McGredy 1992; 'Sexy Rexy' x MACgolumb; pink with white stripe; 20 reports on 27 plants; 1-4 years; 95cms; 6.8 rating. Variable reports this year and the rating has dropped from last year. Canterbury does not like the striped petals and a Franklin grower is disappointed when it is compared to 'Sexy Rexy' as the colour goes muddy in the sun, Central Otago says it is not as good either. North Taranaki finds it grows very tall and is healthy, but nothing spectacular. Bay of Plenty finds the necks weak, but nice pastel pink. Manawatu disillusioned, wants flowers not foliage and is discarding. Nelson is bothered by the mites and the poor shape of the flowers. Central Otago thinks it is lovely, healthy with good form and growth.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1995-96 Season.
Rexy's Baby (MACcarib); McCredy 1992; 'Sexy Rexy' x MACgolumb; pink with white stripe; 13 reports on 16 plants; 1-3 years; 95cms; 7.1 rating. Further reports on this newish patio rose and most are favourable. A Waikato grower thinks it is a 'must', good colour and repeat. North Otago finds it is best in the autumn, flowers quite large, healthy. South Canterbury finds it is too cold for it, Bay of Plenty finds necks weak, blooms fade but good form. One Canterbury grower is disappointed in the striped pink, another from Canterbury seems pleased with the good repeat and perfect HT shaped blooms. A Manawatu grower feels it is not as good as 'Sexy Rexy', coarse in style but very healthy. Downy mildew reported from Marlborough. Hutt Valley thinks it is a real gem.

Rexy's Baby (MACcarib) McGredy 1992; 'Sexy Rexy' x MACgolumb; pink with white stripe; 13 reports on 14 plants; 1-2 years; 95cms; 7.3 rating. First reports in on this new patio rose from a good spread of the country. The most enthusiastic report comes from the Hutt Valley, which extols the large clusters of delightful pink flowers, strong growth and good health. A report from Auckland expresses disappointment that the flowers do not have the shape of 'Sexy Rexy'. South Canterbury reports plant nearly died with the frost, Central Otago thinks flowers too big, and Bay of Plenty found the plant was vigorous and healthy with good repeat, but necks were weak for the large clusters of flowers. Nobody mentioned it is actually pink with a white stripe through it, especially noticeable in the autumn.
