This photograph was taken at Hampton Court Flower on 4 July 2022. Plant Heritage, a conservation foundation in UK, declared 'Sir Winston Churchill' to be its 'Threatened Plant of the Year' in 2020 and arranged for its propagation. Its colour corresponds with the original description, but the red rose published in NRSGB Rose Annual 1956 remains a problem. It seems clear that David Ruston's rose was wrongly named and that so are all the pure pink pictures on this website.

From the Langbecker Nurseries, Bundaberg, Queensland catalogue 1959, near page 32.
Caption: 'Sir Winston Churchill' (HT) 1956. The raiser of this variety claims it to be his best introduction and on what we have seen of it to date we can class it as one of the best of its colouring in existence. It is aptly described as pink with orange and salmon shadings.
