Origin:
Bred by Jacques-Julien Margottin père (1817-1892) (France, 1887).
Introduced in Australia by C. F. Newman and Sons - Adelaide in 1894 as 'Gloire de Margottin'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Scarlet.  Strong fragrance.  Large, full (26-40 petals), in small clusters, globular, high-centered, open bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, upright.  

Height: up to 39" (up to 100cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
According to the Revue horticole of July, 1888, this rose was a cross between Gloire des rosomanes with a Tea Rose, possibly with Goubault. See References.
The Name 'Triomphe de Margottin' on the drawing in the "Revue Horticole" of 1888 was stated to be an error by the editors.
