I see no way to answer my own question, so I am contributing another comment. I believe that ‘Little Princess’ may have been bred by J. Knight, (John E. Knight & Son, Tettenhall Nursery, Wolverhampton, England) and not G. Knight (George Knight & Sons, Homebush, NSW, Australia) and that a simple mistake was made decades ago with the initial of the breeder, printing G. and not J. ‘Little Princess’ was distributed by Beckwith, and I am presuming this was G. Beckwith & Son, Hoddesdon, Herts, England, and that there was no Australian Beckwith nursery. I am sure that George Knight, Australia, would have introduced his own rose through his own nursery.
As the Australian G. Knight would have introduced any of his own roses through his own nursery, I feel that perhaps this rose may have been bred by an English G. Knight. Modern Roses 2 through to 12 list ‘Little Princess’ as being bred by G. Knight and introduced by Beckwith. Does anyone know of an English G. Knight who was breeding in the 1930's? Patricia
Are there any more references to 'Little Princess'? I feel that it may not have been an Australian rose bred by George Knight & Sons, as there have been no Australian references to it. It was apparently bred in 1937 but George Knight & Sons did not list it in their 1938 catalogue.
