This is an absolutely lovely rose. It's one that...I don't understand why it's not more commonly available. The blooms are very pretty and a unique shade of coral/orange that makes you think Tropicana, but isn't quite it. My plant is own-root from Roses Unlimited, and bloomed it's head off this first year...until the deer made my entire garden their person buffet. Can't wait to see how it does next year!

As close to the color of Tropicana as one is going to get without actually growing Tropicana. The form of the bloom is by 1960's and 70's standards "God awful" with every bloom being bull-nosed like parent Ma Perkins. But otherwise, what a nice plant! The 60's saw so many of this color being introduced and so many got lost in the shuffle. So many deserved to and not saying Strawberry Blonde is some EPIC rose, but it didn't deserve to be abandoned by its own release house (Armstrong) within 5 years of being released. The name is not very attractive, that I will say. I think had the name have been something more appealing it may have had more market appeal. It relates to others who are better known like a brighter Spartan, a tinier Tropicana, a heartier First Edition, a more refined Montezuma, a brighter AND more refined Polynesian Sunset. And it is surprisingly fragrant.
