Le climat du Midi est particulièrement favorable à certaines races très vigoureuses qui peuvent couvrir de grands espaces. Nous citerons parmi les plus intéressants : ...R. Gigantea et ses hybrides : Non remontants, mais de végétation luxuriante et à fleurs très grandes demi-doubles. Ne sont utilisés avec succès que si on dispose de beaucoup de place. En plus du type blanc citons : — Comtesse Prozow, jaune chrome.

Comtesse Prozor. P. Nabonnand, 1922. Semi-double salmon-pink flowers shaded coral outside. One of the few Gigantea hybrids in general commerce, but first plants were not true to name as sent out in this country.

...Depuis 1900, M. Paul Nabonnand, le célèbre rosiériste de Golfe Juan, a obtenu un grand nombre d'hybrides, dont il n'a conservé que ceux qui lui paraissent les meilleurs, et parmi eux les suivants qui n'ont été mis au commerce qu'à une date récente: Comtesse Prozor, 1922, R. G. x Comtesse de Bouchaud, jaune chrome tendre brillant, forme et coloris de Chromatella.....
Toute ces variétés, cultivées sur la Côte d'Azur, y prospèrent admirablement et atteignent facilement de 10 à 15 mètres. Une pousse, qui commenceson développement vers juin-juillet, peut attendre en octobre de 6 à 8 mètresde long et de 8 à 10 centimètres de circonférence à la base.
Elle resistents à froids secs de -5o, et si, durant l'hiver de 1929-1930, où le thermomètre est descendu à -8o, est la neige est tombée en abondance, certains rameaux poussants ont été gélés, les plants ont parfaitement résisté.

Hardy Climbing Roses
Comtesse Prozor. Hybrid Gigantea. (P. Nabonnand, 1921.) Very large-pointed buds and enormous saucer-like flowers of rich chrome-yellow, with a creamy undertone. A strong, robust climber.
This is the first of Nabonnand’s new Hybrid Giganteas to get into American commerce. We cannot guarantee that Comtesse Prozor will be entirely hardy, but M. Nabonnand says that young plants bloom only once a year but that when they are well established they bloom continuously. $1.50 each.

Rosiers Nouveaux mis au Commerce à l'Automne 1921 .... OBTENTIONS DE M. PAUL NABONNAND, Rosiériste, Golfe Juan, près Cannes.
COMTESSE PROZOR (Hyb. Gig.). Arbuste très sarmenteux, très robuste, aiguillons forts. Grand feuillage persistant, vert bronze avec 7 folioles. Fleur grande, demi-pleine, très bien faite, assez grands pétales ; tenue, forme et coloris de « Chromatella ». Coloris jaune de chrome tendre et brillant ; onglet des pétales jaune de cadmium clair. Bouton ovoïde allongé avec longs pétales, coloris chrome légèrement carminé, parfum sui Generis.
Issue de Rosa Gigantea x Comtesse de Bouchaud.
