'Reine de Perse' rose References
Book (Jul 1998) Page(s) 166. Includes photo(s). Reine de Perse Before 1825. Habit: upright shrub; 1 m high; medium to strong branches; some few prickles. Foliage: abundant; dark,; elliptical leaflets, waffled and thick, sometimes only 3 per leaf. Bloom: soliatry or in clusters of 2 or 3, rarely 4 blooms; medium to small, double, centre eye. Colour: light pink, ages to very pale, almost white. Fragrance: moderate. This variety is rarely cited in old sources. It appears from 1825 in the catalogues of Noisette, but without description. Van Houtte describes it in 1842 "medium, full, white, lightly flesh-coloured", which seems not a good description of the shade of this variety, which, although light, is clearly pink
