'Nora Cunningham' rose Reviews & Comments

A curious fact found in a 1920 newspaper:- Gwen Nash was a bridesmaid at the wedding of Nora Cuningham in May 1920, and at the reception flowers from both 'Nora Cuningham' and 'Gwen Nash' were used to decorate the tables. From the Ballarat Star of 22 May, 1920, page 9: "The pink roses which were used on the table were, strange to say, the names of the bride and bridesmaid “Norah Cunningham’' and "Gwen Nash,” and were sent from Mr Alister Clarke's garden."
No doubt the wedding was instrumental in the naming and release of both these roses in 1920.

It would have been a welcome wedding gift. Nora and Gwen were cousins and they and their families spent much time at Glenara. Tilley and Andrew Govanstone’s 2010 book ‘The Women Behind the Roses’ tells us much more about the relationship.
