Introduced in Australia by George Knight and Sons in 1932 as 'Nigger Boy'.

Hybrid Tea.  

Dark red.  Flowers very dark velvety blackish maroon.  Strong fragrance.  56 petals.  Small to medium, very full (41+ petals), globular, high-centered bloom form.  Prolific, blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Long, pointed buds.  

Short, compact.  Glossy, bronze-green, dense, leathery foliage.  

Height: 18" to 20" (45 to 50cm).  

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Can be used for beds and borders, container rose, cut flower, garden or landscape.
