We are grateful to the many members who have signed up so far, but the number of premium-membership members remains too small for us to sustain the current support and development level. If you value HelpMeFind and want to see it continue we need your support too.
Yearly membership is only $2.00 per month and adds a host of additional features, and numerous planned enhancements, to take full advantage of the power and convenience of HelpMeFind. Click here to start your premium membership..
We of course also welcome donations of any amount. Click here to make a donation. Donations of $24 or more receive a thank-you gift of a 1-year premium membership.
As far as we have come, we feel HelpMeFind is still in its infancy. With your support we have so much more to accomplish.

If Zecchino and Zecchino d'Oro are the same, then it is worth pointing out that Vittorio Barni and Carlo Medici in their book 'Sublime Rosa' give the date of this variety as 1964.

Thank you! Let us assume for the time being that these are synonyms.

This rose apparently was bred by Mansuino (see References)

Using Google to translate the REFERENCE, it says "obtained by the Italian coach of Sanremo Mansuino several new varieties of flowers and small media such as: Torino, generous, Letizia, Biancaneve, Gardenia, Brakes, Zecchino d'oro, Alba di Primavera, which end up producing 30-40 flowers on one plant." which does not identify Mansuino as the breeder.

Hello Lyn, Thank you for your translation work. Of course I am not sure that Zecchino d’Oro was bred by Quinto Mansuino (I wrote apparently). However: Torino was bred by Mansuino (I sent a rose omission comment two days ago about this rose with the reference) Generosa synonym of Mansuino Rose Letizia, there are two Letizia (Bianca and Rosa) bred by Mansuino Biancaneve bred by Mansuino Gardenia (?) Frine bred by Mansuino Alba di primavera, Mansuino bred a rose named Alba. No certainty, then, but a few points in favour of this hypothesis.

Hi Bruna......
We cannot add a breeder name to a rose page based upon a hypothesis as that is not the purpose of a database.
I see that Torino, generous/Generosa, Letizia, Biancaneve, Gardenia are all listed in the translation above as being "obtained" by Mansuino not bred by Mansuino.
I guess I am getting confused when you say things like "apparently" because to me, it doesn't quite confirm anything about the breeding of the rose.

Hello Lyn, I agree with you that in the main page of a rose the "certainty" must be loaded and not the hypothesis. You correctly are doing your job while I am gathering as many informations as possible to allow you to do your job. Unfortunatly not always they are as clear as we wish but sometime a tiny information can be the start for more consistent findings. Thank you, Bruna

Lyn, "obtained" means "bred" in French, Italian, etc.

Jedmar............
Thank you. I would have never guessed based upon how the word is used in the US. That makes a world of difference.
