Bloom:
Carmine-red, ages to purple . Strong fragrance. Average diameter 2.5". Medium, very full (41+ petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.
Habit:
Climbing, upright.
Height: up to 9'10" (up to 300cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 9b. Hardy. very vigorous.

Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
According to Erich Unmuth, it is questionable whether 'Himmelsauge' in gardens and in commerce is the original Geschwind rose - see References.
