'Frühlingsduft'. Kordes, Germany, 1949. 'Joanna Hill' x Rosa pimpinellifolia 'Grandiflora'. This is the only one of the set that has fully double, almost modern H.T. flowers, having inherited these and much of their colour from 'Joanna HiIF. They are shapely, with rolled petals, of a strange lemon-creamy-white, flushed with pink, with deeper apricot tones in the centre. An extremely rich fragrance is its proudest possession. Makes a vigorous leafy bush, 6 feet by 6 feet.

In Central Europe zone 6 garden flowewring period is very short - flowers are short-lived. I believe this rose might perform better in cool summer area. For me the most attractive feature is colour of young strong shoots - rosy-red with multiple thin prickles.

How come that a lot of pictures of this rose seems to be of double flower, not single as in description... Where is the error?

The description in "Rosenwelten" was incorrect. We have added an early description by Kordes. The corresponding picture shows double blooms.
