The Striped La France attribution for the one currently in commerce should NOT be Hennessey. It was a found rose from the Placerville Cemetery. It was originally called Sidney Atholl Ward, after the tombstone on the grave upon which it grows. Ed Wilkinson, formerly of the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden, identified it as Striped La France.

Originally, Striped La France may have been introduced by Hennessey, but the one in commerce today is an identified "found" rose

It may have been possible that Hennessey was introducing the Striped La France found 23 or more years earlier at an historic mission. See 1933 reference.
