Bred by Gilbert Nabonnand (1828-1903) (France, 1878).
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1899 as 'Général Schablikine'.

Bloom:
Red, copper shading, purple reverse. Glandular, kinked or S-shaped pedicels.  Moderate fragrance.  Large, very full (41+ petals), cupped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Armed with thorns / prickles.  

Height: 6'7" (200cm).  Width: 6'7" (200cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Vigorous.
