The bloom form is wonderfully globular approaching that of Romanticas. The color is beautiful yellow. The color fades only modestly and never turns any color other than an attractive yellow until the very end of the bloom's life. The blooms after opening last for at least 3 to 5 more days on the bush and definitely do not "blow" quickly. The soil here is alkaline clay. Admittedly my zone 7a desert climate is easy for growing roses. But the leaves don't show any hint of powdery mildew the way some roses do here. The stems are strong and without nodding. Although my nose doesn't detect any fragrance, the other excellent qualities of this rose make it a real keeper for me. I love its beauty and performance.

I added Gina this spring. She was shipped a bit late, which is usually not good at all for Houston. However, I've been fairly impressed by Gina so far. It reminds me of an "improved" Gold Glow. The flowers have the same "lots and lots of petals" look that Gold Glow does, but the plant itself grows better. Plus, the flowers hold their color longer and the flowers hold on the plant longer as well. I really like it so far! It's in the mid-90's now and she's blooming away.

One of the best medium to deep yellow roses for hot climates. Even in 100F degrees the flower color is non-fading and the fragrance is sweet. It sends up individual flowers as well as occasional sprays; however, bloom size is large and gets even bigger if side florets are removed. The flower form is variable with the best flowers in the autumn, it starts off urn shaped and tends to be very full of petals like the old Hybrid Perpetuals; when fully open resembles Jacques Cartier. It's beautiful through all stages, but sometimes has flowers with less petals if stressed. The stems are thorny, long, thick, and strong with no tendency to nod, and flower life is good, lasting several days on the bush or in a vase. Sets hips but needs to be deadheaded because sometimes not all petals fall off and some remain to dry on the plant. A minor fault considering the very high petal count. I don't know whether it will ball in wet weather. Strong growth with beautiful glossy dark green foliage and good resistance to disease, but is not completely immune -- better than average. Height hovers around 36" but maybe it's because I keep cutting the flowers for indoors. Gina Lollobrigida is probably my favorite yellow Hybrid Tea and is highly recommended. Give it a try, I bet you will like it.

2" average bloom form for Gina Lollobrigida noted to have "large bloom form" is probably not right
