The sales catalogue of Peter Lambert of 1938/39 includes following reference to the Hybrid Polyantha Cineraria:

Cineraria (P. Lambert 09) Small flower, single, in large bouquets, pale red with a white center, low growth, rich bloomer.

Sangerhausen also assigns Cineraria to Lambert. Where does the reference to Leenders come from? Miss Edith Cavell was bred later, but Tip-Top is one of the roses Lambert used very often in crosses.

Good question. Dickerson likewise lists Lambert, 1909, while Modern Roses lists Leenders, and probably has for a very long time. HelpMeFind will be corrected!	REPLY

I tracked the information about the 1934 Mathias Leenders 'Cineraria' to the American Rose Annual, 1934. The exact entry is:
Cineraria. PP. (M. Leenders & Co., 1934) Miss Edith Cavell X Tip-Top. Type, Britannia. Flower large, semi-double, open, lasting, slightly fragrant, carmine-purple with white center. Foliage small, soft. Vigorous, bushy; profuse bloomer.

For now we shall have to settle for two roses, the Lambert-bred Polyantha without a known parentage.
