Book (Feb 1993) Page(s) 286. Includes photo(s). Gold Coin Miniature. Parentage: 'Golden Glow' x 'Magic Wand'. USA 1967. Description and cultivation... semi-double flowers are intense butter yellow and are carried in trusses...
Book (1991) Page(s) 133. Ross Heathcote, Taylors Lakes, Victoria. Yellow Miniature Roses. Gold Coin Another early release. It grows well, but is a much smaller plant than 'Yellow Doll'. As a border it would really require to be planted closer. The flowers similarly do not last, and because of the plant size, it is nowhere near as good a display as 'Yellow Doll'. It also black spots badly.
Book (1972) Page(s) 77. Roy and Heather Rumsey, NSW. Miniatures. Among the yellows there is not too much to be said as Gold Coin is way ahead of everything else. The colour is good, the flowers are shapely, and the foliage is a pretty soft green which enhances the flower, and makes the whole effect one of great beauty.
Book (1971) p18. E. F. Allen. Awards To New Rose Seedlings In Great Britain In 1970. Gold Coin ('Golden Glow' x 'Magic Wand'). A vigorous Miniature, growing on its own roots, by Ralph Moore, with canary yellow very double flowers. I thought it very pretty in August. Trial Ground Certificate.
p152. Dr. A. S. Thomas, Victoria. The New Ones. Gold Coin. Min. (Moore, 1967) ('Golden Glow' x 'Magic Wand'). Bright unfading buttercup-yellow, fully double flowers of spiral form, opening to be nearly an inch in diameter. The plant seems to be healthier than that of most yellow roses. Seems to be easily the best yellow Miniature so far.
Book (1969) Page(s) 30. Roy and Heather Rumsey, NSW. New Roses. GoId Coin Miniature. (Moore) The small pointed buds open to double flowers of a pure buttercup yellow. The wonderfully compact small plants are very free flowering and the colour and quality of this cultivar are outstanding. ('Golden Glow' x 'Magic Wand').
