Bastogne was among 628 cultivars reported as having been collected from four gardens in Japan in 1975:
Colour and Pigment Distribution in Ornamental Plants : V. Anthocyanin Distribution in Rose Cultivars. The Technical Bulletin of Faculty of Horticulture, Chiba University Vol.22(19750315) pp. 13-24.
The four gardens were:
Keisei Rose Institute, Chiba Yatsu Park, Chiba Kanagawa Prefectural Ofuna Botanical Garden Jindai Plant Park, Tokyo
