Notes:
The parentage given reflects Percy Wright's second thoughts about the parentage (see note below), and is the parentage that seems most likely to those who grow the rose.

In Dakota Horticulture in the 1950's P. Wright wrote that he crossed R. spinosissima altaica with 'Harison's Yellow.' He also stated that 'Persian Yellow's' pollen is rarely fertile; making 'Harison's Yellow' the more probable cross. [Brian Porter] AIternately "it was in 1938, when I had recently moved to Moose Range, that Prof. C. F. Patterson mailed me flower buds of Persian Yellow and it was from these that 'Hazeldean', 'Yellow Altai', 'Kilwinning', and others that I discarded are descended." ( PW in corr. to W. Schowalter 07/17/1976.) [Pittao]. 'Harison's Yellow' [Fillmore, Roscoe] Numerous references in P.W.'s correspondence to W Schowalter indicates that the cross was 'Persian Yellow.' [Pittao] See also 1942? Kinnikinnick Vol 4 #2 P.48 for another confirmation for 'Persian Yellow.' [Pittao]
