Origin:
Bred by Alister Clark (1864-1949) (Australia, before 1927).
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1927 as 'Billy Boiler'.

Bloom:
Red.  Strong fragrance.  10 to 12 petals.  Double (17-25 petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Climbing.  

Height: 10' (305cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to Mildew.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Alister Clark, in the 1930 ref said the parentage was Black Boy; and in the 1939 reference said it was Oscar Cordell.

There is some doubt that the rose in commerce in Australia may not be the original rose. Refer to the 1997 reference.
The original rose was a very free seed-setter.
