A couple notes I have located about the Hansen Hedge Rose sold in Canada
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------“Seed of Hansen Hedge rose was received from the Forest Nursery Station, Sutherland, Sask., and given a sixty-day period in 40 degree storage, after which the seed flats were taken into the greenhouse where the temperature was maintained at 50 to 55 degrees. Germination took place within three weeks. About 45 per cent of the seed sprouted. This rose makes a hardy upright-growing plant five feet high and is valuable as a source of winter food for birds. It bears an abundance of bright red hips."

The Rose which we distribute has been offered sporadically through the Prairie Shelterbelt Program and up until this year the “Hedge Rose”, which we distribute, was added permanently to the application for wildlife and riparian plantings. Speaking to our distribution manager, he had stated that the Roses that the farms in your area received years ago probably come from the Alberta Shelterbelt Program.
Also, upon researching the Hansen Hedge Rose is made up on the Rosa rugosa and the R. woodsii. It is a hardy, low to medium growing, thorny shrub which may reach a height of 4 to 6 ft. Growth form is upright to arching, roots sucker to form a dense thicket. The single pink flowers are followed by red rose hips. (Source: Lincoln-Oakes Nurseries)

I have added one of the references. Not sure if I have put it in the correct place.
As this file may contain more than one rose (ie 'Hansen's Red Hedge' and 'Hansen's Hedge Rose' ), would you please label your photos in case we ever have to split the file.

I am not sure if there is a listing for this rose or if the original Red Hansen/Hanson's Hedge is correct.
I first saw the name in the book:

North Dakota extension has photos of the rose, plus complete description, however, it is not a red but a light pink rose hardy to zone 2:

I am not familiar with a "Hansen's Red Hedge" but grow a "Hansen's Hedge Rose". It is the one shown in the link you posted...

I believe it was introduced by SDSU as windbreak material. Whether it was "developed" by selection from open pollinated seeds or by cross breeding I am uncertain. I'll try to find out.

Thanks for looking into it.
The reason I posted it here, is that there is no listing for Hanson/Hansen Hedge rose on HMF.
And this is the only rose listed "Hedge" rose, that was hardy to zone 2.
I think HMF needs to open a listing for Hansen/Hanson hedge rose.
It is possible that this is the Red Hanson/Hansen hedge rose:

synonyms of
Hansen Hedge Rose

That way all the valuable information in your comments are in one place and with time, details of this / these roses may come clear.

Medium red shrub Is what the Americican Rose Society say for 'Hansen's Red Hedge'.
Down further on the page under bloom, HelpMeFind shows red or pink.
