A lovely rose coveted by Southern California rosarians, especially those who reside near the coastline. The colors are unique similiar to those seen in some orchids. In cool weather fresh blooms are suffused by tan tones.The single blooms are quite large, up to 4.5 inches, and open flat with petals overlapping. Bright yellow stamens further complement the blooms.The blooms have excellent substance and are attractive as cut flowers. Bloom quality degrades in heat. Despite the small number of plants out there Frankie often wins at shows. Although classified as a floribunda the rose can grow as a well behaved climber which is not surprising considering its parentage. The rose is said to be difficult to propagate. Frankie has a history of commanding high prices at auctions.
