One of the earliest introductions was "Otahuhu Hybrid' an HT rose (1887) described as "pink, very sweetly scented, a very fine climbing rose". This had a wide distribution too.

1883, 'Otahuhu', hybrid climber; full, large, double and intensely sweet. (The late Mr. David Hay was charmed with this Rose and sent it to Burbank, who acknowledged that it was doing well, and two years later named it 'Burbank'.

Climbing Roses. Otahuhu Hybrid (Lippiatt, 1887). Pink; very sweetly scented, and very full, [illegible] a climbing rose. This and 'Ards Rover' are two of the sweetest scented roses in the catalogue. Prune very little.
