Gerard Williams. Final Analysis 2000-2001
'Kristin' (BENmagic) Benardella 1992; DICmickey x 'Tinseltown'; white flower with broad red edging; glossy foliage; 29 reports on 37 bushes; 30cms; 7.5 rating. Healthy medium sized plant. Blooms appear to open better in warm weather and at best can make a classical exhibition bloom that holds well. Good cut flower.

Gerard Williams. Review of the Newer Roses for the 1999-2000 Season.
'Kristin' (BENmagic); Benardella 1992; DICmickey x 'Tinseltown'; white flower with broad red edging; 6 reports on 9 bushes; 1-4 years; 55cm; 7.2 rating. Foliage is semi-glossy and dark green on a medium sized plant. Northland say big exhibition blooms fade to muddy colour. Foliage is large, but Benardella roses are big. North Harbour finds the bush healthy, but with some downy mildew in spring. Good exhibition form which holds. North Otago has good growth, but the blooms turn brown in the sun. Paeroa also find the bush healthy with large stems of flowers. The flowers fade a bit and don't tend to open right up. Manawatu says it is the Silver Lining of minis. Classic flowers with top show potential. Foliage can sometimes be too large. Waikato likes the pretty flower (like 'Magic Carousel') but perhaps a little large for a mini.

Gerard Williams. Review of the Newer Roses for the 1998-1999 Season.
'Kristin' (BENmagic); Benardella 1992; DICmickey x 'Tinseltown'; white flower with broad red edging; 7 reports on 10 bushes; 1-3 years; 40cms; 7.5 rating. Foliage is semi-glossy and dark green on medium sized plant. Healthy. North Otago were disappointed and found their flowers faded to muddy red. South Canterbury said it doesn't like the rain. The outer petals open but the inner ones fail to do so quickly. Golden Bay likes the large striking flower with its good exhibition form and it lasts. Vigorous and healthy. Keeps its colour. Napier says floriferous and disease resistant. Manawatu says its a good exhibition and the blooms hold well. Foliage is large and glossy. Promising. Wellington found plant was very healthy with fast repeat. Showy noticeable plant that is wide growing. Better in its second year.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1997-98 Season.
'Kristin' (BENmagic), Benardella 1992. red & white bicolour. 3 reports on 3 plants; 1-2 years; 40 cms; 7.9 (interim) rating. A new exhibition recently released and it comes with good credentials from the US as it is one of their top miniatures for exhibiting, surprisingly only three reporting again this year. Paeroa says it is growing well, striking red and white coloring, non fade, more flowers would be good. Wellington says exhibition show blooms, new this year. Manawatu has grown it for two years and finds it is a good exhibition which holds for ages, perhaps too long, foliage is glossy and on the large side, healthy, repeat slow. A promising new comer.
