…Rud. Geschwind sent us last autumn 13 different climbers under the name „Hungarian Climbers“ to bring into commerce and thus have them tested by roselovers…
Fatinitza: Hybrid of 3. degree between the alpine rose Multiflora and the Ayrshire-rose, fully hardy and distinguihed by its large, peculiar foliage. Medium size bloom and in numerous clusters, so that the shrub in full bloom lokks like snowed in. The blooms are of course only medium size and scarcely more than semi-double, but beautifully flat cup form and so closely built that the lack of fullness is not so evident. The colour varies in all steps between white, pink and purple pink, not seldom striped and lined white, often individual petals totally white, with pright purple-rosy edges, so that the white middle contrasts nicely; a colouring which does not exist otherwise with roses. This hybrid requires a northerly wall, as she fades too fast in a southern, sunny location. Upright growth, vigorously climbing.
