Boufarik is a town 35 km southwest from Algiers, where French Military had established a garnison from 1835 onwards. Acording to Revue Horticole of March 1850, thrre was also a nursery located there, growing mostly mulberry and other forest trees, but also "ornamental" trees. The name "Rose de Bouffarik" is therefore to be understood as a Found Rose.
