Maureen Ross. Ross Roses New Introductions for 2004. St. Francis Xavier (TOMtea). Here is an interesting phenomena. A modern ‘Tea’ rose – bred by George Thomson from Francis Dubreuil (Tea 1894) x General Gallieni (Tea 1899). With petals of maroon to mulberry-red, and a strong fragrance to enhance the tightly ruffled blooms, produced on a neat bush growing to 1.2 metres. This rose will find a special place in many gardens and be greatly sought after by heritage rose lovers everywhere. Commissioned by Xavier College, Melbourne, to commemorate 450th anniversary of the death of St. Francis Xavier, and, 125 years of the Xavier College. Orders can be left with the College, or from Ross Roses in 2004.
Magazine  (2004)  Page(s) 61, Vol 26, No. 1.
