‘Pink Kardinal’. Modern, large flowered hybrid tea. Deep pink. Repeat flowering. This rose has all the strengths of its parent, except for color which is a hard pink that fades to a dirty shade. The blooms are of true exhibition form. They are a little small in the summer for exhibition purposes but are superb in spring and autumn. ‘Kardinal’ and ‘Pink Kardinal’ are some of the first roses to flower in spring and continue until early winter when the best flowers of the year are produced. Each bloom contains 50 petals with suberb substance. The bush is of medium height and stocky. Zones 5-10. Stratford, Australia, 1995. Sport of ‘Kardinal’.

p146. Mr. Les Stratford of Toongabbie, New South Wales relates: I have a new rose named ‘Pink Kardinal’, a sport of ‘Kardinal’. I have registered this rose with the Rose Society of Australia, and it has been accepted with the P.V.R. in Canberra. P.V.R. 94/077 and I am in the process of having it registered with the American Rose Society. I am a member of the Parramatta & Hills Society, and I displayed a large vase of the blooms at the recent National Rose championship held at Chatswood, where much interest was shown not only by local exhibitors, but interstate as well.
