The parentage of Petticoat is Margaret Merrill, according to patent information.

The code name implies Margaret Merril and Flower Carpet Pink (the codename implies the German spelling). The foliage definitely denotes Rosa wichurana type foliage like FC Pink, but sadly it cant be reported unless confirmed by raw source data.

Pickering Nursery is selling this rose as "Petticoat Fairy Tale." Yet another rose being sold under a number of similar names. Is there anyone else out there who thinks it should be mandatory to sell roses under their registration name as well as their market name? There is just too much confusion otherwise!

I absolutely agree, I donĀ“t understand this policy, too.

Thanks for your agreement. It really drives me nuts to have to spend time trying to figure out what some rose offered by a nursery really is. It would be so easy to end up buying the same rose from three different nurseries under different names. There is enough confusion over old rose identities, I don't see why nurseries should be propagating more confusion with modern roses. It's bad business practice at best.
