This rose is very floriferous: this year, in the time it took the other roses to produce their second flush, this rose was well on its way to produce is third. It performs best in cool weather. In the heat of the summer the colour of the flowers looks faded, and the petals reflex so much that the bloom has a blown-out look. In cool (even rainy) weather, however, the flowers retain a wonderful old-fashioned cupped shape (although they come from modern-looking, high pointed buds) and the colour is more intense. It's a similar story for the scent: either too faint or even mildly objectionable in hot weather, the fragrance turns to the smell of peach-flavoured tea in cooler weather, and it is pumped out virtually at any hour of the day. I like the compact habit of the bush with gently nodding flowers. It's now September and my pot-grown grafted plant (which I bought last Winter) has become beautifully bushy. The red young foliage adds to the charm. This is definitely a keeper and one that I suspect might do particularly well in climates such as northern England or Scotland.
