This rose as grafted on Dr. Huey is very hardy and vigorous in nearby rose park, zone 5a, for the past decade. It's very healthy and likes alkaline heavy clay. The leaves are thick, the petals are thick and jammed pack, Japanese beetles can't get inside.

update on Pink Traviata: Pink traviata has come through the zone 7 winter well. we got record breaking snow amounts. I was really worried about my roses, my roses beds where filled with snow amounts totaling approx. 30' or more. But to my surprise everyone survived. The Pink Traviata was of high concern to me, i had gotten it late in the season,but i is doing well. For some strange reason this rose seem not to have dropped all it leaves, they were still green in late january/february. My neighbor and i noticed on day as we came out on our decks, the snow was being washed away from rain and a little on the rose was showing through the snow. I dont understand why this happend,but traviata has no black spots and is already loaded with buds. It stands at approx 6ft. I had to do some trimming down of it for control purposes only. But what a great rose, it is a must have for your garden.

Snow is actually a good insulator for roses, protecting them from the drying winds and protecting them from coldest temperatures. The worst winter weather for roses is dry, cold, and windy (when they are without any protection). It's wise to make the effort to shovel snow on top of the roses if you haven't protected them otherwise and extreme cold/wind is expected.

My neighbor saw pink traviata in a local nursery. She brought it home to me, and I loved it. It seemed a little slow going at first. It was a potted rose. In one month it has tripled in size and is taking over. Its upright but bushy growth habit makes this rose an upstoppable grower, and why would you want to stop it. The rose has approx 125 power packing petals. I did have some trouble with B.S. when i first planted it, but i have gotten that under control. It never stops flushin. I love english roses and this one is a very aggressive grower. The only down side to this one is it has no scent. But the beauty and the power packin petals makes up for it. Lets see how it does in the zone 6 winter, i will update next season.
