Bloom colour is vibrant and eye-catching and can be deeper when grown in the shade. May need some wind protection when grown in exposed areas.

Exhibition 6.8. Height medium. Health 7.1. Fragrance 3.0. Availability: D&S, Tas. Waikato: Healthy, tall, fully open blooms. Te Awamutu: strong bush, lovely form, would like more flowers, good for exhibition. Feilding: Grows very tall and very strong, very good garden rose, quite healthy and colour shows up well in garden. Sth Canterbury: Good big blooms, love the colour.

Te Awamutu: Very vigorous, lovely salmon pink, makes exhibition or fully open. Feilding: Too tall and thorny for its own good, suffers in the wind, healthy and vigorous, good in garden and at show. Kapiti: Good show rose as decs and exhibition, nice strong stems, stands up to weather well, needs early spraying as it has health problems, black spot. South Canterbury: On the 'to go' list.

Gisborne: Fell in love with this at Palm Nth gardens three years ago, love the colour but later blooms small. Feilding: Tall, vigorous, healthy, beautiful blooms, good in garden and at show. Kapiti: A good showing rose, stands up to weather well, has some health problems, vibrant colour. Wairarapa: Good colour in the shade, but leggy. South Canterbury: Taken a few years to look good.

Book (2002) p82. Peter Elliott. New Zealand International Rose Trial Ground. Trial 31. 1999-2001. Massey University (MACwhitba) was always going to attract attention because of its name. Massey is celebrating 75 years as a University and this McGredy bred rose is sure to please. It has large HT blooms in a hot salmon colour. I thought it would have scored higher than its 66.6. Like me, many graduates of this learned institution will probably buy it for nostalgic reasons.
