Bred by Jean-Baptiste André (fils) Guillot (1827-1893) (France, 1862).
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1873 as 'Baron de Rothschild'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Crimson or carmine-red, violet shading.  Moderate fragrance.  Very large, full (26-40 petals) bloom form.  
Habit:
Upright.  

Height: up to 39" (up to 100cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Hardy.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Please note that there are two other Hybrid Perpetuals from the 1860's with similar names: Lacharme's 'Baron Adolphe de Rothschild' and Pernet's 'Baronne Adolphe de Rothschild', which see.
