From Beauties of the Rose Henry Curtiss 1850-1853
VICOUNTESSE DE CAZES.
Family-Tea Scented.
RIVERS-Bright yellow-the most brilliant of all.
PAUL & SON-Yellow-centre deeper yellow, tinted with copper color'large and very double
WOOD & SON-Bright orange vellow-large-magnificent
CURTIS -Petals bright yellow tinged with bronze-beautiful-and distinct, but rather loose. THIS elegant new yellow rose was raised by Mons. PRADEL, at Montauban, sent out in the autumn of 1846. It is a very distinct tea, of an appearance somewhat singular, from its peculiar narrow central petals. In color it is a beautifull clear yellow, with fine bronzy centre, which varies considerably in depth of becoming more or less bronzy according to the situation in which it is cultivated in the greenhouse its flowers are frequently of a deep chrome yellow. When grown luxuriantly it exhibits the character of the noisette, and is thus rendered particularly pleasing by its numerous clustering buds. In all its varieties of aspect it amply compensates, by its superior beauty of color, for being somewhat less powerfully scented than many of its class. On any of the cultivated stocks it is a very valuable acquisition to the greenhouse.
